Graphic Designer

Job Summary
The Institute for Capacity Building (ICB) seeks a talented graphic designer to join our team, producing a wide range and variety of designs for its fast-expanding network of Black colleges and universities, various partners, and other stakeholders as well as the broader public—all to advance ICB’s mission, which is to partner with Black colleges and universities to propel student success, community advancement and the fight for racial-justice equity.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
-Develop persuasive designs for ICB-generated materials, including print and digital assets (e.g., designs for proposals, presentations, reports, website pages and other digital media).
-Help ensure the timely execution of ICB’s editorial calendar with targeted compelling designs, including updates to website content and social media posts.
-Establish and maintain a system for storing, organizing and retrieving creative assets, including photography and graphic elements.
-Work with ICB leadership, colleagues and consultants and the UNCF communications team to expand and deepen ICB messaging across all possible platforms and connections, creating compelling graphics that resonate with diverse audiences with a honed racial-justice, culturally-informed lens.
-Support the tracking of key performance indicators of all ICB strategic communications efforts.
-Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, Content Writer, other ICB colleagues and, as needed, creative agencies, photographers, videographers, website designers and engineers.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Work alongside our ICB team to deliver designs so that HBCU becomes a household term and exponentially more people value and support the promise of Black higher education. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications and works closely with ICB leadership and staff.

Qualifications & Skills
-Superb graphic design skills, presenting demonstrated impact of original materials.
-2+ years of experience in developing compelling designs, including branding elements, for a variety of print materials and digital media in a related field, preferably higher education.
-Goal-oriented and passionate about education equity and racial justice.
-High energy, solution-oriented and open-mindedness to arrive at optimal creative strategies.
-Confidence to work effectively with a fast-paced, zero-drama team, staying organized and detail-oriented to deliver a high volume of products and services—efficiently and with quality.
-Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Canva, WordPress (or other CMS), ADA requirements and data analytics to further design solutions.
-Ability to work with printers to prepare materials according to print and digital specifications.
-Skilled in video production, digital illustration or motion graphics.
