Zillah Fluker, Ph.D.

Director Executive Leadership

Dr. Zillah Mataré Fluker is a 17-year leader in corporate America and higher education. She is a highly sought-after speaker, thought leader and higher education leader with a keen sense of branding and social media strategy.

Her career spans over two decades in corporate America at companies like Motorola and Honeywell and in higher education where she served as vice president of institutional advancement at Alabama State University, Miles College, and Central State University, where she established the HBCU Center of Excellence for Corporate Engagement and Leadership. Zillah’s passion for leadership development also led her to co-found the Why Not Win Institute, a nonprofit designed to build collegiate leaders, where she served as the inaugural executive director.

She holds a doctorate in higher education and a bachelor’s degree in history from Alabama State University. She also received a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in history from Purdue University. Originally from Zimbabwe and raised in England and Alabama, Zillah is married to her college sweetheart, Kwame. They live in Central New York with their two sons, Coleman and Ande. In her spare time, she hosts HBCUelevate with Dr. Z, a talk show featured on HBCUgoTV and Heart & Soul.
