With all that historically Black colleges and universities do, we have yet to unlock their full potential. Not even close.

Within the past month, I have had the privilege of actively participating in two of the best national conferences of my half-century career as a faculty member and leader in higher education.

Commitment will expand career pathways student development programming and promote financial education resources on campuses.

In the midst of the pandemic, HBCUs have focused on the their social, emotional or mental well being. UNCF and the Steve Fund announced a two-year multi-layered partnership.

UNCF and partners reflected on the successes of the Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) funded by a $50 million Lilly Endowment investment that helps HBCUs and PBIs strengthen institutional career placement outcomes.

No single group of institutions is more responsible for the economic, cultural and legal progress of our nation’s Black families than HBCUs.

Dr. Ford will become the next president of Dillard University, a historically Black university in New Orleans. Ford is currently the dean of Elon University’s School of Communications.

Low-income students, students of color, and those who are the first in their families to go to college often have a tougher time finding a first job out of college and earn less than their more privileged peers.

With capacity-building support from UNCF, HBCUs will offer one-on-one success coaching to help thousands of students of color chart pathways to and through college.
